stretching Primary Muscles
Self-myofascial release of the entire glute complex using a foam roller to improve mobility and reduce muscle tension.
Instructions
- Sit on the floor with the foam roller under your glutes, supporting yourself with hands behind you.
- Keep one leg bent with foot on the floor and place the other leg across it to increase pressure if desired.
- Using your hands and feet for leverage, slowly roll from the top of the glutes down toward the hamstring attachment.
- Pause on any tender or tight areas for 20-30 seconds and allow the muscle to relax.
- Complete the prescribed time on one side, then switch to the other side.
Tips
- Adjust intensity by changing body position and leg placement
- Breathe steadily to help the muscle relax during pressure
- Start with lighter pressure if you are new to foam rolling
- Move slowly to identify problem areas within the muscle
- Perform regularly to maintain mobility and reduce soreness
