Good Morning Bodyweight
A bodyweight hinge movement that teaches proper hip extension and posterior chain engagement without external load.
Instructions
- Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart and place your hands behind your head with fingers interlaced, elbows out to the sides.
- Keeping your chest up and core engaged, initiate the movement by hinging at the hips.
- Lower your torso by bending forward at the hips while maintaining a neutral spine and slight knee bend.
- Continue lowering until your torso approaches parallel to the floor, feeling the stretch in your hamstrings.
- Drive through your heels and extend your hips to return to the starting position, squeezing your glutes at the top.
- Repeat for the prescribed number of repetitions.
Tips
- Focus on hinging from the hips rather than bending your spine
- Keep your back straight and neutral throughout the movement
- Maintain a slight knee bend to reduce hamstring stress
- Start with a shallow range of motion if flexibility is limited
- This variation is excellent for learning proper hip hinge mechanics
