Machine Crunch
A core flexion exercise performed on a machine that isolates the abdominal muscles through controlled forward folding.
Instructions
- Select an appropriate weight and sit down on the machine, placing your feet under the foot pads.
- Grip the handles at chest level with both hands, keeping your arms bent at approximately 90 degrees.
- Sit upright with a neutral spine, maintaining proper posture against the backrest.
- Contract your abdominal muscles and pull the handles downward toward your hips while bringing your torso forward.
- Focus on flexing at the waist and allow your elbows to move toward your hips.
- Pause briefly at the bottom position, squeezing your abs.
- Slowly return to the starting position and repeat for the prescribed number of repetitions.
Tips
- Use light to moderate weight and focus on controlled movement rather than heavy loading.
- Keep your head and neck neutral; avoid pulling with your neck or arms.
- Concentrate on feeling your abdominals contract with each repetition.
- Move through the full range of motion from start to finish.
- Avoid jerky movements; maintain a smooth, controlled tempo throughout.
- Keep your feet firmly planted for stability during the exercise.
