Secondary Muscles
A static stability exercise where you maintain balance while seated on a stability ball, improving core strength and proprioception.
Instructions
- Sit on the stability ball with feet flat on the ground, positioned hip-width apart
- Ensure your knees are at a 90-degree angle
- Maintain an upright posture with shoulders back and core engaged
- Keep your hands either at your sides, crossed over your chest, or extended for balance
- Distribute your weight evenly across the ball
- Maintain stability without letting the ball roll
- Hold this position for the desired duration
Tips
- Start with feet closer together once you gain confidence for increased difficulty
- Position the ball so your hips are slightly higher than your knees for better stability
- Keep your core tight throughout the hold
- Use arm movements for balance if needed when starting out
- Breathe steadily and avoid holding your breath
- Perform this exercise away from walls initially to build true stability
