A dynamic isometric-based exercise where you lie prone and raise your arms and legs explosively, emphasizing lower back and posterior chain activation.
Instructions
- Lie flat on your stomach on a floor or exercise mat with your legs fully extended.
- Extend both arms fully in front of you along the ground.
- Engage your core and glutes throughout the movement.
- Simultaneously raise your arms, chest, and legs off the floor as high as comfortably possible.
- Hold the contracted position for 2-3 seconds while squeezing your lower back and glutes.
- Maintain the raised position with all limbs and chest lifted off the floor.
- Slowly lower your arms, legs, and chest back to the starting position in a controlled manner.
- Rest briefly and repeat for the prescribed number of repetitions.
- Exhale as you raise your limbs, inhale as you lower them.
Tips
- Focus on squeezing your lower back and glutes at the top of the movement for maximum activation.
- This exercise builds exceptional posterior chain strength and core stability.
- Maintain a neutral spine position throughout the movement.
- Start with shorter holds and lower ranges of motion if needed.
- Progress by increasing the duration of the hold or number of repetitions.
- This exercise is excellent for improving posture and spinal health.
- Avoid this exercise if you have lower back pain or injury without professional guidance.
- Can be modified by raising only the upper body or only the lower body for reduced difficulty.
