Frog Squat Stretch
A deep hip and inner thigh stretching exercise performed in a squat position with knees splayed wide. This targets the adductors, hip flexors, and groin muscles.
Instructions
- Begin standing with your feet shoulder-width apart and toes pointing forward.
- Step your feet wider than shoulder-width, turning your toes out to approximately 45 degrees.
- Slowly lower your body into a wide squat by bending your knees and pushing your hips back.
- Continue lowering until your thighs are parallel to the floor or deeper if flexibility allows.
- Keep your torso upright and place your hands on your knees or the floor in front of you.
- Gently press your elbows against your inner thighs to deepen the stretch.
- Lean forward slightly from the hips to increase the stretch in your groin and inner thighs.
- Hold the stretch without bouncing, breathing deeply and allowing the muscles to relax.
Tips
- Keep your chest up and shoulders back to maintain proper posture throughout the stretch.
- The deeper you squat and the wider your stance, the more intense the stretch will be.
- Use your elbows to gently press your knees outward, increasing the stretch gradually.
- This stretch is excellent for improving hip mobility and relieving tightness in the adductors.
- Perform this stretch regularly to gradually improve your range of motion over time.
- This stretch is particularly beneficial for athletes and those with tight hips.
