A yoga-based static stretch that lengthens the obliques and side body while improving lateral flexibility and balance.
Instructions
- Stand upright with feet together and arms at your sides.
- Reach your right arm overhead and lean your torso to the left, creating a straight line from your right foot to your right fingertips.
- Keep your shoulders stacked and avoid rotating your chest forward or backward.
- Hold this stretched position for 20-30 seconds while breathing deeply.
- Return to center and repeat on the opposite side, reaching your left arm overhead and leaning to the right.
Tips
- Press your feet firmly into the floor for stability
- Keep your hips level and do not let them shift forward or back
- Breathe deeply into the stretch to enhance the lengthening effect
- Feel the stretch along the entire side of your body, not just at the waist
- This pose can be performed before or after workouts for flexibility maintenance
