Hercules Pillars
An isometric upper body exercise where two high cable weights are held in a fixed position, requiring intense bicep and tricep engagement while the cables are under tension.
Instructions
- Grab two cable handles and stand in the middle between the cables so both cables have tension when arms are at your sides.
- Position your arms at approximately 90 degrees at the elbows with your hands positioned comfortably, feet shoulder-width apart.
- Engage your biceps and triceps to create tension against the cable resistance.
- Maintain this isometric position with both arms under constant tension, keeping your core engaged and posture upright.
- Hold this position for the desired duration while maintaining steady tension throughout.
- Release the cables and rest between sets.
Tips
- Use a moderate weight that allows you to maintain tension without relying on momentum
- Keep your core engaged and shoulders stable throughout the hold
- Breathe steadily throughout the hold without holding your breath
- Maintain consistent tension on both sides for balanced muscle engagement
- Start with shorter holds and increase duration as grip and arm strength improve
