Iron Cross Crunch (Bench)
An advanced calisthenic exercise combining an iron cross hold with a crunch movement. This extremely challenging movement requires significant upper body strength and core stability.
Instructions
- Sit on a bench and position your hands on either side of your body with palms down for support.
- Lean back slightly and extend your arms out to the sides at shoulder height.
- Press through your hands to lift your torso and legs slightly off the bench, creating tension across your chest and shoulders.
- Maintain the horizontal arm position while engaging your core.
- Perform a crunch motion by bringing your chest toward your hips while maintaining the arm position.
- Keep constant tension in your chest, shoulders, and core throughout the movement.
- Return to the starting position in a controlled manner.
- Repeat for the desired repetitions or hold time.

- This is an advanced exercise; master basic crunches and chest strength first
- Maintain constant horizontal arm tension without dropping the arms
- Core stability is essential to prevent lower back strain
- Breathing rhythm is important; exhale during the crunch phase
- Progress gradually as this movement requires significant strength
