A shoulder mobility and activation exercise where a weight plate is held and rotated around the head in a circular motion.
Instructions
- Stand upright with your feet shoulder-width apart and your core engaged.
- Hold a weight plate with both hands at chest height, hands close together but not overlapping.
- Inhale to prepare and maintain a neutral spine.
- Exhale and raise the plate to face level, positioning it above and slightly in front of your head.
- Begin rotating the plate in a circular motion around your head, moving it to one side, around behind, and back to the front.
- Move slowly and deliberately, maintaining control of the plate throughout the full circle.
- Complete all repetitions in one direction, then reverse and rotate in the opposite direction.
- Keep your core engaged and upper body still; the movement comes only from your arms and shoulders.
Tips
- Use a light weight to ensure proper form and shoulder safety throughout the movement.
- Move slowly and deliberately through the entire circular path, avoiding any jerky movements.
- This exercise improves shoulder mobility and rotator cuff activation.
- Keep your core engaged and maintain an upright posture throughout.
- Maintain smooth, continuous rotation; the plate should move in a controlled circle.
- This is an excellent warm-up or activation exercise for shoulder-focused training sessions.
- Breathe steadily and avoid holding your breath during the movement.
