Push Up (Band)
A compound pressing movement using a resistance band looped around the back to increase difficulty or around the chest for assistance during push-ups.
Instructions
- Start in a plank position with hands shoulder-width apart on the ground.
- Place the band across your upper back and hold the ends under your hands (for harder resistance).
- Or loop the band around your back and under your arms (for assistance).
- Maintain a straight body line from head to heels with core braced.
- Lower your body by bending your elbows, keeping them at roughly 45-degree angles.
- Descend until your chest nearly touches the ground.
- Push through your hands to return to the starting position.
- Perform the desired number of repetitions while maintaining proper form and alignment.
Tips
- Keep your body rigid in a straight plank position throughout the movement.
- Lower your body as a single unit without sagging hips or shrugging shoulders.
- Control both the descent and ascent for maximum muscle engagement.
- For increased difficulty, loop the band over your upper back for added resistance.
- For assistance, loop the band under your arms to support a portion of your body weight.
- Adjust band positioning to increase or decrease resistance based on your strength level.
