Round The World Shoulder Stretch

A shoulder mobility stretch performed with a light rod or broomstick that moves through a large circular range of motion. It improves shoulder flexibility and joint health while warming up the rotator cuff.
Instructions
- Stand up straight with your legs together, holding a light bodybar, broomstick, or PVC pipe.
- Hold the pole behind your hips with a wider than shoulder width grip.
- Your palms should face down with your thumbs facing outward.
- Slowly lift your arms up behind your head, bringing the rod overhead in a circular arc.
- Continue the circular motion, bringing the rod down in front of you.
- Complete the full circle by returning to the starting position behind your hips.
- Don’t force the movement if it becomes difficult or causes pain.
- Perform the movement slowly and controlled.
Tips
- Use a light implement (broomstick or PVC pipe) to allow greater range of motion.
- Widen your grip on the implement to accommodate current shoulder flexibility.
- Perform this stretch as a warm-up to prepare shoulders for training.
- If mobility is limited, start with a wider grip and gradually narrow it as flexibility improves.
- Move slowly and within a comfortable range to avoid shoulder injury.
- This exercise is excellent for improving overhead mobility needed for pressing movements.
