Seated Hamstring and Calf Stretch

A seated static stretch targeting both hamstrings and calves using a belt, rope, or resistance band to increase range of motion.
Instructions
- Loop a belt, rope, or band around one foot. Sit down with both legs extended. This will be your starting position.
- Lean forward slightly from your hips while keeping your back straight.
- Pull on the belt to draw the toes of your foot back toward your body, intensifying the calf stretch.
- Hold this position for 15-30 seconds while breathing deeply.
- Relax and switch to the other leg, repeating the movement.
Tips
- Avoid rounding your back—keep your chest forward and maintain neutral spine alignment.
- Use a flexible band or belt to avoid straining your foot; you can adjust grip distance to control intensity.
- Pull gently to avoid sudden overstretching; the goal is a mild discomfort, not sharp pain.
- Perform this stretch on both sides equally to maintain balanced flexibility.
- This exercise works best when muscles are already warm from activity.
Recommended starting values
