The Straddle

A wide-leg forward fold stretch that improves hip flexibility and targets the hamstrings and adductors.
Instructions
- Begin in a seated, upright position on the ground with your back straight.
- Extend your legs in front of you in a wide V formation, approximately 90-120 degrees apart.
- Keep your knees straight but not locked, maintaining a slight bend if needed.
- Place your hands on the ground in front of you for support.
- Lean forward from the hips, allowing your torso to move toward the ground while keeping your spine neutral.
- Hold the deepest comfortable stretch position for 20-30 seconds while breathing deeply.
Tips
- Do not force the stretch; stop at a point of mild discomfort, not pain.
- Keep your toes pointing upward and your heels on the ground.
- Lean forward from the hips, not by rounding your lower back.
- Breathing deeply throughout the stretch enhances relaxation and depth.
- This stretch is excellent for improving hip flexibility and hamstring length.
