stretching Primary Muscles
A self-myofascial release technique using a foam roller on the triceps muscles to reduce tension and improve mobility.
Instructions
- Sit on the floor with a foam roller positioned perpendicular to one arm
- Place the foam roller on the triceps muscles of the upper arm
- Use your bodyweight to apply pressure to the triceps against the foam roller
- Slowly roll back and forth along the length of the triceps
- Pause on tender spots and hold for 10-20 seconds while breathing deeply
- Adjust your body position to target different areas of the triceps
- Gradually increase pressure intensity as the muscle relaxes
- Work both triceps equally for balanced release
Tips
- Tricep tension often builds from pressing exercises and general arm tension
- This technique helps improve mobility and reduce muscle soreness
- Perform slowly and with control for maximum benefit
- Can be combined with stretching and active recovery work
- Regular tricep SMR helps maintain shoulder health and arm mobility
- Perform this after upper body workouts for best results
