Triceps StretchTriceps Stretch

A simple static stretch that targets the triceps by flexing the elbow and pulling the arm behind the head.

Instructions

  1. Stand or sit in a relaxed, upright position
  2. Reach one arm behind your head and bend your elbow, bringing your hand toward your upper back
  3. Grasp the elbow of the raised arm with your opposite hand
  4. Gently pull the elbow downward and inward, deepening the stretch in the tricep
  5. Hold the stretch position for 10-20 seconds while breathing deeply
  6. Maintain an upright posture and avoid leaning away from the stretch
  7. Slowly release the stretch and lower your arm
  8. Repeat on the opposite side for equal duration

Tips

  • This is one of the most simple and effective tricep stretches
  • Breathe steadily and deeply to help relax the tricep muscle
  • Avoid bouncing or jerking; maintain steady, gentle tension
  • Perform regularly after upper body training for improved mobility
  • Combine with other stretches for comprehensive upper body flexibility work
  • Can be performed multiple times throughout the day to maintain mobility
