Upward StretchUpward Stretch

A standing overhead stretch that targets the shoulders, sides, and chest to improve upper body flexibility.

Instructions

  1. Extend both hands straight above your head, palms touching or close together.
  2. Slowly push your hands up and back, keeping your back straight and your feet on the ground.
  3. Feel the stretch along your sides, shoulders, and chest as you lean slightly backward.
  4. Maintain steady, deep breathing throughout the stretch.
  5. Hold the position for 20-30 seconds.
  6. Release gently and return to the starting position.

Tips

  • Avoid arching your lower back excessively; maintain a neutral spine.
  • Keep your feet firmly planted on the ground for stability.
  • Press through both feet to engage your core and protect your lower back.
  • You should feel a full-body stretch from your heels to your fingertips.
  • Perform 2-3 repetitions, holding each for 20-30 seconds.
