Calf Stretch Hands Against Wall

A standing calf stretch against a wall performed with a staggered stance to lengthen the calf muscles and improve flexibility.
Instructions
- Stand facing a wall from several feet away.
- Stagger your stance by placing one foot forward and one foot back.
- Lean forward and rest your hands on the wall at approximately shoulder height.
- Keep your head, hips, and back heel in a straight line throughout the stretch.
- Maintain both feet flat on the ground, with the back heel pressing firmly into the floor.
- Lean your torso forward toward the wall until you feel a stretch in the calf of your back leg.
- Hold this stretched position for 10-20 seconds while breathing steadily.
- Release and switch to the opposite leg, repeating the stretch on the other side.
Tips
- Maintain proper spinal alignment by keeping your head, hips, and heels aligned
- The back heel is critical—it must remain pressed to the ground for an effective stretch
- Move your front foot closer to or farther from the wall to adjust stretch intensity
- Hold each stretch for at least 15-20 seconds for adequate muscle lengthening
- This exercise is excellent for calf mobility and flexibility
- Perform this stretch after workouts when muscles are warm and pliable
- Take deep, relaxed breaths to allow the muscles to relax into the stretch
