Secondary Muscles
An advanced core exercise combining plank stability with lateral movement using an exercise ball for leg elevation.
Instructions
- Set up in a plank position with your feet on an exercise ball (gymball).
- Your hands should be directly under your shoulders on the floor.
- Your body should form a straight line from head to heels.
- Stabilize yourself in this position.
- Slowly move one foot sideways off the ball toward the floor.
- Lightly touch the floor with that foot while maintaining the plank position.
- Return that foot back to the ball.
- Repeat with the opposite foot.
- Alternate feet for the prescribed number of repetitions.
Tips
- Focus on core stability throughout the movement.
- Move slowly and with control rather than quickly.
- Keep your hips level and avoid rotating your torso.
- The exercise ball adds instability, which increases core engagement.
- Obliques work intensely due to the lateral movement component.
- Maintain steady breathing throughout the set.
