Kneeling Cable Crunch With Alternating Oblique TwistsKneeling Cable Crunch With Alternating Oblique Twists

A core exercise combining abdominal flexion with rotational movement, targeting the abs and obliques simultaneously using cable resistance.

Instructions

  1. Attach a rope to a high pulley machine and kneel approximately two feet away from the tower.
  2. Grasp the rope with both hands and position it behind your head with hands near your ears.
  3. Keep your hands in position and contract your abdominals, pulling downward in a crunching motion.
  4. Continue crunching until your elbows reach your knees, then pause briefly.
  5. Rise back to the starting position in a controlled manner.
  6. Repeat the downward crunch movement until you reach halfway down.
  7. At the halfway point, rotate one elbow toward the opposite knee in a twisting motion.
  8. Pause at the bottom, return to starting position, and repeat the twist on the opposite side.
  9. Continue this series of straight crunches and alternating twists for the prescribed repetitions.

Tips

  • Initiate all movement from your abdominals; avoid using your arms or neck to pull the rope.
  • Keep the rope in position behind your head and your hands by your ears throughout the movement.
  • Control the descent; avoid allowing the weight to pull you out of the top position too quickly.
  • The rotation component adds oblique activation; maintain the crunch angle while rotating.
  • Focus on the contraction of the abdominals at the top of each movement.
  • This exercise is particularly effective for developing the entire core musculature.
