Low Back Extension (Band)
A lower back isolation exercise using band resistance to target the erector spinae and lower back extensor muscles.
Instructions
- Secure a resistance band at approximately waist height behind you.
- Face away from the anchor point and loop the band around your waist.
- Stand upright with a slight knee bend, feet hip-width apart.
- Maintaining a slight forward lean, keep this position as your starting position.
- Extend backward against the band resistance by engaging your lower back and glutes.
- Return to the slightly forward lean position with control and repeat.
Tips
- This is a small range of motion exercise; avoid excessive backward extension.
- Keep your core engaged throughout to support your lower back.
- The movement should originate from your lower back and hips, not from swinging.
- Maintain constant tension in the band throughout the entire range of motion.
- This exercise is excellent for lower back health and injury prevention.
- Perform 12-15 reps per set for optimal lower back strength and endurance.
