Neck Extension (Band)
An isolation exercise using a resistance band to strengthen the posterior neck muscles through controlled extension movements.
Instructions
- Sit upright in a stable chair or bench with good posture.
- Hold the band behind your head with both hands, anchoring the ends against your shoulders or upper back.
- Position the band against your forehead or across the upper part of your head.
- Keep your shoulders relaxed and your back straight.
- Gently extend your neck backward against the band resistance in a controlled movement.
- Feel the stretch and contraction in the posterior neck muscles at the end range.
- Return to the starting position by reversing the movement slowly and deliberately.
- Perform the desired number of repetitions with controlled, deliberate movements.
Tips
- Move slowly and with control; the neck is delicate and requires careful handling.
- Start with light band resistance to assess comfort and proper form.
- Maintain an upright posture throughout the exercise to maximize muscle isolation.
- Avoid sudden jerking movements or bouncing at the end of the range.
- If you experience any discomfort, reduce range of motion or resistance immediately.
- Perform this exercise regularly to improve neck stability and posture.
