Neck Lateral Flexion (Band)
An isolation exercise using a resistance band to strengthen the lateral neck muscles through controlled side-to-side flexion movements.
Instructions
- Sit upright with proper posture in a stable chair or bench.
- Place the band over the top of your head with the ends hanging down on either side.
- Hold the band ends with both hands at shoulder level.
- Keep your shoulders relaxed and your back straight throughout.
- Flex your neck to one side, bringing your ear toward your shoulder against band resistance.
- Feel the stretch on the opposite side of your neck and a contraction on the working side.
- Return to center and repeat on the opposite side.
- Perform the desired number of repetitions on each side with controlled movements.
Tips
- Use light band resistance to protect the delicate neck muscles and joints.
- Move slowly and with complete control throughout the entire range of motion.
- Maintain symmetry by performing equal repetitions on both sides.
- Avoid rotating your head; focus purely on lateral flexion movements.
- Keep your shoulders stable throughout the exercise without shrugging.
- Stop immediately if you experience pain or discomfort in the neck.
