Primary Muscles

A foundational static hold on rings with the body elevated above the rings and arms fully extended. Builds shoulder strength and stability essential for other ring movements.

Instructions

  1. Jump up or use leg assistance to position yourself above the rings with arms fully extended.
  2. Keep your body vertical with core tight and glutes engaged.
  3. Press into the rings to keep your shoulders packed and protracted.
  4. Maintain a straight body line from head to heels.
  5. Hold this position with constant tension throughout your body.
  6. Maintain continuous breathing—do not hold your breath.
  7. Lower yourself carefully when complete.

Tips

  • Start with shorter holds and gradually increase duration.
  • This is an excellent foundation for advanced ring movements.
  • Keep shoulders engaged and depressed throughout.
  • Perform on stable rings to prevent unwanted swaying.
  • Use foot assistance initially if needed to develop the necessary strength.

Recommended starting values
