Single Leg (Jump Rope)
A jump rope variation where you jump on one leg at a time, alternating sides to develop unilateral leg strength and balance.
Instructions
- Stand upright with the rope at your sides, feet hip-width apart.
- Begin turning the rope and jump on your right leg only.
- Keep your left knee bent with your foot off the ground.
- Maintain steady rhythm while turning the rope with consistent wrist speed.
- After 30-60 seconds, switch to jumping on your left leg.
- Keep alternating legs at regular intervals to balance the work.
Tips
- Look ahead to maintain balance rather than looking down.
- Keep your non-jumping leg’s knee up to maintain core engagement.
- Use your arms to help stabilize yourself if needed.
- Land softly on the ball of your foot to reduce impact on the knee.
- Start with shorter intervals and gradually build endurance on each leg.
- Maintain even rope speed throughout both legs.
