Standing Leg Raise (Band)
Standing isolation exercise using a resistance band to target the hip flexors and improve core strength.
Instructions
- Stand upright facing a stable anchor point, with a resistance band looped around one ankle.
- Anchor the band at a low point, providing downward resistance.
- Slightly bend the standing leg knee and maintain an upright posture.
- Raise your working leg upward by flexing at the hip, bringing your knee toward your chest.
- Control the movement and keep tension on the band throughout.
- Lower your leg with control back to the starting position.
- Complete all prescribed repetitions before switching to the other leg.
Tips
- Keep your torso stable and upright—avoid leaning backward as you raise your leg
- Raise your leg to approximately hip or waist height for optimal hip flexor activation
- Control both the lifting and lowering phases to maximize time under tension
- Keep your standing leg knee slightly bent to protect your knee joint
- Maintain steady breathing throughout the movement
