A explosive compound kettlebell movement that builds lower body power and develops rapid hip and shoulder drive.
Instructions
- Place two kettlebells between your feet with your feet hip-width apart.
- Push your hips back and look straight ahead to get into the starting position.
- Bend your knees slightly and grip both kettlebells with your hands.
- Drive through your heels and extend your legs and hips explosively, pulling the kettlebells toward your shoulders.
- As the kettlebells rise, rotate your wrists so your palms face forward and the kettlebells rest on your shoulders.
- Lower the kettlebells back to the starting position with control.
Tips
- The power comes from your legs and hips, not your arms.
- Maintain a neutral spine throughout the movement.
- Rotate your wrists as the kettlebells come up to position them properly on your shoulders.
- Use a smooth, controlled lowering phase to prepare for the next rep.
Recommended starting values
Sensible novice starting points for each goal, for a lifter aged 25–40. Scale down for smaller frames or older lifters. Treat the first set of any session as a discovery set.
