Body Saw (TRX / Suspension Trainer)
A core-intensive suspension exercise that combines a plank position with a dynamic pushing and pulling motion, engaging chest, shoulders, and abs.
Instructions
- Anchor the TRX straps at mid-length.
- Position yourself facing away from the anchor, feet in the stirrups.
- Assume a plank position with your body in a straight line from head to heels.
- Keep your core engaged and your hands on the ground (or on suspension handles for a modified version).
- Push your body away from the anchor by extending through your shoulders and core.
- Pull yourself back toward the anchor by flexing your core and shoulders.
- Maintain a rigid plank position throughout—do not allow your hips to sag or pike.
- Repeat the pushing and pulling motion for the desired number of reps.
Tips
- The TRX body saw is primarily a core-stabilization exercise—keep your body perfectly straight.
- Do not allow your hips to drop or pike upward during the movement.
- Control both the push and pull phases with intentional core engagement.
- Start with a more inclined position (feet higher) if balance is challenging.
- The movement should be smooth and controlled, not jerky or bouncy.
