Burpee Pull-Up

An advanced full-body compound exercise combining a burpee with a pull-up at the conclusion, demanding explosive power, strength, and extreme conditioning.

Instructions

  1. Begin standing with feet shoulder-width apart, positioned under or near a pull-up bar with arms at your sides.
  2. Bend your knees and drop into a squat position, placing your hands flat on the ground in front of you.
  3. Jump or step your feet back explosively, landing in a plank position with your body forming a straight line.
  4. Perform a push-up by bending your elbows and lowering your chest toward the ground.
  5. Push through your hands to extend your elbows, returning to the plank position.
  6. Jump your feet forward explosively, bringing them back to the squat position.
  7. Explosively jump upward, reaching the pull-up bar with both hands while maintaining grip.
  8. Perform a full pull-up by pulling yourself upward until your chin passes the bar level.
  9. Lower yourself back down to a full arm extension, then step back and prepare for the next repetition.

Tips

  • This is an elite-level exercise requiring advanced strength and conditioning; master burpees and pull-ups separately first.
  • The transition from burpee to pull-up requires explosive power and precise timing.
  • Momentum from the burpee’s jump can assist with the pull-up transition; use this to your advantage.
  • Movement quality may deteriorate rapidly with fatigue; stop sets before compromising form.
  • Adequate recovery between reps is essential due to the extreme full-body demand.
  • This exercise is excellent for developing comprehensive functional strength and power.
