Child's PoseChild's Pose

A restorative yoga pose that stretches the entire spine, shoulders, and hips while promoting relaxation.

Instructions

  1. Get on your hands and knees, walk your hands in front of you.
  2. Lower your buttocks down to sit on your heels. Let your arms drag along the floor as you sit back to stretch your entire spine.
  3. Once you settle onto your heels, bring your hands next to your feet and relax.
  4. Rest your forehead on the floor and breathe deeply into your back.
  5. Hold this stretch for 30-60 seconds.
  6. Return to starting position slowly.

Tips

  • Avoid this position if you have knee problems
  • Use a pillow under your head for additional comfort
  • Keep your arms extended to maximize the stretch through your lats and shoulders
  • Focus on deep, relaxed breathing
  • This is an excellent cool-down stretch after workouts
