A deadlift variation performed with feet in a staggered stance and holding a kettlebell, promoting unilateral strength development and stability.

Instructions

  1. Stand with one foot forward and one foot back in a staggered stance, about hip-width apart front to back.
  2. Hold a kettlebell with both hands in front of your thighs.
  3. Keep your shoulders packed and your chest up throughout the movement.
  4. Initiate the deadlift by bending your knees slightly and pushing your hips back.
  5. Descend by loading your legs and maintaining a neutral spine.
  6. Lower the kettlebell toward the ground along your legs.
  7. Drive through both feet, extending your hips and knees to return to the starting position.
  8. Complete the desired number of repetitions in this stance before switching your foot position.

Tips

  • The staggered stance challenges your balance and core stability, demanding engagement from stabilizer muscles.
  • Maintain equal weight distribution between both feet; do not shift your weight excessively.
  • Keep your shoulders square and prevent rotation of your torso during the movement.
  • Maintain a neutral spine throughout; avoid excessive spinal flexion or extension.
  • Keep the kettlebell close to your body to maintain proper alignment and balance.
  • This variation is excellent for addressing strength imbalances between legs.
  • Ensure equal work on both foot configurations to maintain balanced strength development.
