A bodyweight hamstring isolation movement using gravity and body control to contract the hamstrings without equipment.
Instructions
- Lie face down on an exercise mat or floor with your legs extended behind you.
- Place your hands either by your sides or under your forehead for stability and comfort.
- Engage your hamstrings and curl your heels upward toward your glutes.
- The movement should be controlled, focusing on hamstring contraction rather than speed.
- Continue curling until your feet are as close to your glutes as you can control.
- Pause briefly at the top of the movement, feeling the hamstring contraction.
- Lower your feet back down to the starting position with control.
- Repeat for the prescribed number of repetitions.
Tips
- Keep your hips in contact with the mat to isolate the hamstrings.
- Use a slow, controlled tempo to maximize muscle engagement.
- This natural movement requires no equipment but builds substantial strength.
- Progress by performing higher repetitions before advancing to weighted variations.
- Consistency with bodyweight curls builds a strong foundation for heavier movements.
- This exercise also improves hamstring flexibility when performed regularly.
