Standing isolation exercise using a resistance band to target the hamstring muscles through leg flexion.

Instructions

  1. Stand upright facing a stable anchor point, with a resistance band looped around one ankle.
  2. Anchor the band at a low point or have a partner hold it for resistance.
  3. Slightly bend the standing leg knee and engage your core for stability.
  4. Curl your working leg upward by bending your knee, bringing your heel toward your glutes.
  5. Control the movement and maintain tension on the band throughout the range of motion.
  6. Complete all prescribed repetitions before switching to the other leg.
  7. Maintain an upright posture and avoid leaning forward or backward.

Tips

  • Keep your standing leg slightly bent to protect your knee and improve stability
  • Move only at the knee joint; avoid swinging your leg or using momentum
  • Curl slowly and control the return to full leg extension
  • Keep your core engaged to prevent excessive forward lean
  • Hold briefly at the top of each rep to maximize hamstring contraction

Recommended starting values
