Oblique Crunches - On The Floor

A floor-based oblique crunch where you lie on your side and crunch upward, isolating the oblique muscles on each side of the abdomen.
Instructions
- Start by lying on your right side with your legs lying on top of each other.
- Keep your knees bent slightly for comfort and stability.
- Place your left hand behind your head, supporting your neck gently.
- Once in this set position, begin by moving your left elbow upward as you perform a crunch.
- The main emphasis is on your obliques, so focus on that area.
- Crunch as high as you can, holding the contraction for a second.
- Slowly drop back down to the starting position.
- Complete all repetitions on one side, then switch to the other side.
Tips
- Breathe in during the lowering phase and out during the upward crunch.
- Move deliberately and with control to maximize oblique engagement.
- Keep your hips in place; only the upper body should move.
- Support your neck with your hand but don’t pull excessively.
- The floor-based position provides great stability and form control.
- Perform equal repetitions on both sides for balanced core development.
- When bodyweight becomes easy, try holding light weight plates.
