V-Sit
An isometric core exercise performed sitting in an open V position with straight legs and arms extended. Builds abdominal and hip flexor strength.
Instructions
- Sit on the floor with your legs extended straight in front of you.
- Place your hands behind your body with palms on the floor, fingers pointing toward your feet.
- Press through your hands and lift your torso and legs off the floor simultaneously, creating a V shape.
- Your body should form a straight line from your torso through your legs.
- Hold this position while maintaining steady breathing.
- Keep your chest up and shoulders retracted throughout.
Tips
- Start with your hands closer to your body and gradually move them further away as you get stronger.
- Keep your legs straight and lower back engaged to maintain the V position.
- Breathe steadily; never hold your breath during the hold.
- If full position is too challenging, start with bent knees.
- Hold for 10-30 seconds and gradually increase duration as your strength improves.
