Elbow to KneeElbow to Knee

A core exercise that targets the abdominals and obliques by bringing the elbow toward the opposite knee in a crunching motion.

Instructions

  1. Lie on your back on the floor with your knees bent and feet flat.
  2. Cross your right leg over your bent left knee.
  3. Place your hands gently behind your head, elbows out, with your shoulder blades starting on the ground.
  4. Flex your spine and rotate your torso to bring your left elbow toward your right knee.
  5. Squeeze your abdominals at the top of the movement.
  6. Return to the starting position in a controlled manner.
  7. Perform the desired number of repetitions, then switch sides.

Tips

  • Keep your hands behind your head for support only, not to pull your neck.
  • Focus on the rotation and crunch from your core, not neck strength.
  • Move slowly and control the descent.
  • Keep your lower back pressed to the floor throughout.
  • This exercise can be performed without crossing legs for a standard crunch variation.
