A dynamic balance and shoulder stability exercise performed in a handstand position, where you alternately tap your shoulders to challenge stability.

Instructions

  1. Position yourself in a wall-supported handstand with feet against the wall, hands on the floor shoulder-width apart.
  2. Establish a stable handstand position with your body in alignment from hands to feet.
  3. Engage your core and maintain balance as you lift one hand briefly to tap the opposite shoulder.
  4. Return that hand to the floor quickly, establishing stability before lifting the other hand.
  5. Tap the opposite shoulder with the second hand, then return to the floor.
  6. Continue alternating shoulder taps in a controlled rhythm.
  7. Repeat for the prescribed number of repetitions (each hand tap counts as one rep).

Tips

  • Wall support is essential - never attempt free-standing shoulder taps without significant experience
  • A spotter can provide additional safety and confidence during this movement
  • Keep your body tight and core engaged to prevent excessive movement at the hips
  • Tap quickly but maintain control - stability is more important than speed
  • This drill significantly improves handstand balance and shoulder stability
