Lateral Waves (Battle Rope)
A battle rope variation where the ropes are moved side-to-side in lateral waves, emphasizing shoulder and core rotation.
Instructions
- Position yourself at the center point of anchored battle ropes, approximately 15-20 feet away, taking one end in each hand.
- Stand with feet shoulder-width apart, knees slightly bent, and arms at your sides.
- Move one arm outward to the side to shoulder height while keeping the other arm at your side.
- Quickly alternate, moving the opposite arm outward while bringing the first arm back to center.
- Continue this side-to-side alternating pattern as rapidly as possible for the prescribed time duration.
Tips
- Maintain an upright posture and minimize rotation of your torso.
- Keep your core engaged to stabilize your spine during the lateral movement.
- Move from your shoulders rather than swinging your entire arm.
- This variation particularly emphasizes the lateral deltoids.
- Maintain constant tension on the ropes by moving continuously.
