A suspension-based core isolation exercise targeting the obliques through a rotational crunch motion. Develops lateral core strength and stability.

Instructions

  1. Stand facing the TRX anchor point holding the handles
  2. Lean back slightly, creating tension in the suspension straps
  3. Perform a crunch motion while rotating your torso to one side
  4. Bring your knee toward your opposite elbow
  5. Feel the oblique contraction on the side you’re crunching toward
  6. Return to the starting position in a controlled manner
  7. Complete all reps on one side before switching
  8. Maintain an upright posture and avoid excessive forward lean

Tips

  • Keep your core engaged throughout the movement
  • The rotation should come from your obliques, not just your legs
  • Maintain steady breathing; avoid holding your breath
  • You can perform this unilaterally (one side) or alternating
  • Equal reps on both sides ensures balanced oblique development
  • Reduce hand support to increase difficulty
  • Feel the contraction in your oblique muscles, not just your hip flexors
  • Control both the crunch and the return portions of the movement

Recommended starting values
