A seated rotational core exercise where a medicine ball is twisted side to side, targeting the obliques and developing rotational core strength and endurance.

Instructions

  1. Sit on the floor with knees bent and feet either flat or elevated slightly off the ground.
  2. Lean back slightly, maintaining an upright torso position.
  3. Hold a medicine ball with both hands at chest level, elbows bent.
  4. Rotate your torso to one side, bringing the medicine ball toward the floor beside your hip.
  5. Return to center and rotate to the opposite side.
  6. Continue alternating for the prescribed number of repetitions.

Tips

  • The rotation should come from your core, not your arms swinging.
  • Keep your torso relatively upright; avoid excessive backward lean.
  • Maintain control throughout the movement; avoid jerky rotations.
  • If keeping feet elevated, maintain that position throughout the set.
  • Breathe steadily; do not hold your breath during the rotation.
  • This is an excellent oblique isolation exercise for rotational strength and endurance.
