Secondary Muscles

A beginner-friendly chest and tricep exercise performed by pushing against a wall. Ideal for building foundational upper body strength.

Instructions

  1. Stand facing a wall, about 12 inches away with feet shoulder-width apart.
  2. Place your palms flat against the wall at chest height, slightly wider than shoulder-width.
  3. Keep your body straight from head to heels, engaging your core.
  4. Bend your elbows and lean your body toward the wall, lowering yourself until your nose nearly touches the wall.
  5. Push back against the wall to return to the starting position, fully extending your arms.
  6. Repeat for the prescribed number of repetitions.

Tips

  • Keep your core tight throughout the movement to maintain a straight body line.
  • Lower yourself in a controlled manner rather than rushing the descent.
  • Place your feet further from the wall to increase difficulty.
  • Ensure your hands remain stable and don’t slide during the movement.
  • Breathe in as you lower yourself and exhale as you push back.
  • Progress to regular push-ups on the ground once this becomes easy.
