A pushing exercise performed against a sled with high handles to emphasize chest and shoulder development.

Instructions

  1. Load a sled to an appropriate weight and position yourself in front of it.
  2. Grasp the handles at approximately shoulder height, keeping your elbows slightly bent.
  3. Assume an athletic stance with your feet shoulder-width apart and core engaged.
  4. Drive forward through your legs while pushing the sled with your upper body and arms.
  5. Extend your arms as you push, maintaining control of the sled.
  6. Slow the sled with control as you return to the starting position.

Tips

  • Use your legs to generate power; don’t rely solely on your arms.
  • Maintain an upright torso with your core braced throughout.
  • The higher handle position emphasizes the chest and anterior shoulders.
  • Control the sled’s deceleration to maximize eccentric loading.
  • This variation develops upper body pressing strength and power.

Recommended starting values
