Primary Muscles

A compound pulling exercise using a resistance band to drive the elbows up and back, engaging the shoulders and upper back.

Instructions

  1. Stand on the center of a resistance band with feet shoulder-width apart.
  2. Grasp both ends of the band with a neutral grip, hands at hip height near your thighs.
  3. Drive your elbows high and out to the sides, pulling the band upward to shoulder height.
  4. Keep your elbows slightly ahead of your wrists throughout the movement.
  5. Squeeze your shoulders and upper back at the top position.
  6. Lower the band with control back to the starting position and repeat.

Tips

  • Lead with your elbows rather than your hands to maximize shoulder engagement.
  • Keep the band close to your body throughout the movement.
  • Maintain an upright torso; avoid excessive forward lean or rocking.
  • Keep your core engaged to maintain stability and protect your lower back.
  • This movement can be performed with a slight bend in the knees for added stability.
  • Use this exercise to build shoulder strength and improve posture.
