An advanced lower body exercise where a kettlebell is held overhead while squatting, requiring mobility, core stability, and building full-body strength and coordination.

Instructions

  1. Press kettlebell overhead with one arm, achieving a locked-out stable position.
  2. Position feet shoulder-width apart while maintaining the kettlebell overhead.
  3. Initiate descent by pushing hips back and bending knees simultaneously.
  4. Lower into a squat while maintaining the overhead position and upright torso.
  5. Achieve full depth with thighs parallel to ground or deeper if mobility permits.
  6. Drive through your feet to stand, maintaining the overhead kettlebell position.

Tips

  • Require thorough mobility work to perform this movement safely and effectively.
  • Keep your core braced throughout to stabilize the overhead load and protect your lower back.
  • Focus on maintaining an upright torso rather than leaning or allowing the kettlebell to drift forward.
  • Start with light weight and prioritize mobility and control over load.
  • This movement builds exceptional stability, mobility, and full-body strength.

Recommended starting values
