A fundamental pushing exercise with hands suspended in TRX straps and feet on the ground, building chest, shoulder, and triceps strength with increased core demands from suspension.

Instructions

  1. Adjust TRX straps to the mid-length position and stand facing the anchor
  2. Hold the handles with arms extended and body leaning forward at an angle
  3. Lower your body by bending your elbows, bringing your chest toward your hands
  4. Keep your elbows at approximately 45 degrees from your body
  5. Press through your hands to extend your arms and return to the starting position
  6. Repeat for the prescribed number of reps
  7. Maintain a rigid, engaged core throughout the movement

Tips

  • The suspended position increases instability and core demands
  • Keep your body in a straight line from head to heels
  • The more vertical you stand, the easier the exercise; the more horizontal, the harder
  • Focus on chest and shoulder activation over arm strength
  • Control the descent for better muscle activation
  • Exhale as you press, inhale as you lower

Recommended starting values

Sensible novice starting points for each goal, for a lifter aged 25–40. Scale down for smaller frames or older lifters. Treat the first set of any session as a discovery set.
