Ring Body Saw
A dynamic pressing movement on rings where you oscillate back and forth in a plank position, challenging chest and shoulder endurance with instability.
Instructions
- Begin in a plank position with hands gripping the rings at shoulder width and body straight from head to heels.
- Keep your arms relatively straight (slight elbow bend acceptable) and maintain a rigid core throughout.
- Rock your body forward toward the rings by shifting your weight, moving your shoulders forward of your hands.
- Rock back to the starting plank position, shifting your weight and pushing your shoulders away from the rings.
- Continue this sawing motion back and forth smoothly and with control.
- Maintain constant tension and keep your body completely rigid throughout the movement.
- Perform for the desired number of repetitions or duration.
Tips
- Start with slow, controlled movements before increasing speed or range
- Your entire body must remain rigid; avoid sagging hips or breaking at the knees
- The oscillating motion challenges shoulder stability and chest endurance
- Rings will rotate outward; actively prevent this by controlling your hand position
- Perform this as a core and shoulder stability drill rather than a high-rep exercise
- Excellent for building press strength and scapular stability
- Perform 20-50 saws depending on your current fitness level
- This complements plank progressions well
- Keep moving steadily without pausing; maintain momentum
Recommended starting values
