Primary Muscles

A fundamental pulling movement where you pull yourself upward from a hanging position on the rings, building back and arm strength.

Instructions

  1. Hang from the rings with arms fully extended
  2. Pull yourself upward by driving your elbows downward and backward
  3. Bring your chest toward the rings
  4. Lower yourself back down with control
  5. Maintain body tension throughout the movement
  6. Repeat for repetitions

Tips

  • Use full range of motion from dead hang to chest
  • Keep your shoulders engaged and stable
  • Use the rings’ instability to your advantage
  • Maintain steady body position without excessive swinging
  • Progress by increasing repetitions or reducing assistance
  • Can perform with slight forward or backward lean to modify difficulty
  • Build pulling strength progressively
  • Excellent foundational exercise for advanced skills

Recommended starting values
