Anti Rotation Press (Band)
A core stability exercise using a resistance band where the body resists rotational forces while pressing the band away from the torso.
Instructions
- Stand perpendicular to an anchor point with a resistance band attached at chest height.
- Hold the end of the band with both hands at chest level, creating tension.
- Stand with feet shoulder-width apart and slight knee bend.
- Engage your core by tightening your abdominals.
- Press the band straight out away from your chest to full arm extension.
- Resist the band’s rotation by maintaining a squared torso position.
- Hold the extended position briefly, focusing on core tension.
- Return the band to your chest with control and repeat.
Tips
- This exercise builds anti-rotational strength essential for spinal stability and injury prevention.
- Maintain a squared torso position—do not allow the band to rotate your body.
- The core must work hard to resist the rotational force from the band.
- Perform this exercise on both sides for balanced development.
- Perform 2-3 sets of 10-12 reps per side for optimal core stability development.
- This movement transfers well to athletic performance and everyday movements requiring rotational control.
Recommended starting values
