A core exercise performed lying on your back where you raise both legs while keeping them straight.

Instructions

  1. Lie on your back on a mat with your legs straight and arms at your sides, palms down.
  2. Keeping your legs straight, press your lower back into the floor by engaging your abdominals.
  3. Slowly raise both legs together until they reach about 45 degrees or higher if flexibility allows.
  4. Lower your legs back down toward the floor with control, stopping just before touching down.
  5. Repeat for the desired number of repetitions.

Tips

  • Keep your lower back pressed into the floor throughout to avoid excessive lumbar extension.
  • Move deliberately and avoid swinging your legs for momentum.
  • If this exercise is too challenging, bend your knees to reduce the lever arm.
  • Exhale as you raise your legs and inhale as you lower them down.

Recommended starting values
