Primary Muscles

An advanced static hold where your body forms a cross shape with arms out perpendicular to your torso. Demands exceptional shoulder strength, stability, and core control.

Instructions

  1. Begin in a support hold on the rings with arms fully extended.
  2. Gradually shift your weight distribution and position your arms perpendicular to your body.
  3. Maintain your torso upright and core engaged as you move into the cross position.
  4. Keep shoulders packed and engaged throughout the hold.
  5. Maintain tension in your entire body, especially the shoulders and core.
  6. Hold this position for the desired duration.
  7. Return to a standard support position with control.

Tips

  • This is an extremely advanced movement—only attempt with significant ring training experience.
  • The cross position creates enormous shoulder stress—progress very carefully.
  • Shoulder strength, stability, and conditioning are prerequisites.
  • Even brief holds are demanding; start with very short durations.
  • This movement carries high injury risk if attempted prematurely.
